Welcome to our website

Welcome to the Critical Issues in Irish Society website.

This network is open to PhDs and early stage researchers across the island of Ireland (and beyond!) who wish to connect and create a dialogue around issues of critical importance in Irish society.

It was founded in 2010 by PhDs in the School of Sociology UCD and mostly consists of students from human science, arts and humanities. But we’re open to researchers and students from all disciplines wishing to contribute to the issues raised by the group.

From Jan to May 2011 the CIISN network hosted a series of seminars on topics ranging from the labour market to health. You can browse the working papers, listen to the podcasts or download the PowerPoint presentations here.

Upcoming events for 2011/12 will be posted on this site, so please check back for updates. Alternatively, you can email us at ciisn.ucd@gmail.com

Finally, you can join our google group for regular news and discussion by clicking here.

All the best,

About Critical Issues in Irish Society Network

A group of PhDs from the School of Sociology in University College Dublin, Ireland have decided to take action and connect with other PhDs and early stage researchers across the human sciences in Ireland. Our intention is to establish a series of seminars in which we can exchange ideas, connect with others, encourage collaboration and develop our community. More details to come...
